This is Cable & Deadpool during Civil War. Basically, they had a massive fight because ‘Pool killed a dude, and Cable messed with his brain so ‘Pool would see the worst images of himself, and this is ‘Pool calling him out on it and Cable admitting he thought it would get ‘Pool to come to him for help and the two of them having a short but beautifully done conversation:

Cable: “Always comes back to this. For two people who say they don’t need each other, the both of us keeping doing a lot of stupid things to try and stay together.”

And that, ladies and gents, is more emotional development in one sentence than the main Civil War book had in seven issues. We’d have been lucky to get half this feeling between Tony and Steve, and they’ve been respected and established characters for decades.

You know, for a book that I’m still not certain wasn’t done on a dare, they sure as shit got the emotional tension done damned well. It’s hard to remember, looking at these panels, that these two (especially Cable) were long-standing jokes in the Marvel U when the book launched. In fact, I wonder how many people who mock on Deadpool and Cable haven’t read this series. They really should.
